This school is a century old institution and it came in to being as a Govt. school. The school had been shifted to private management in 1961 – 62, late Thiru V.S Thyagaraja Mudaliar M.A., took over the management of the school in the name of his adopted father Vadathimangalam Thiru V.T Somasundaram B.A., and running successfully since then.

The school has been upgraded as a higher secondary school in 1978-79 and running successfully. The school honour the retired teachers with good mementoes.The teachers are honoured with mementos on Teachers’ Day.

The students who score first rank in Std 10 -12 are encouraged and honoured with prizes, given on behalf of the trust founded by former Correspondent of the school Selvi N.Janaki B.A., L.T.,

The top ranking students are encouraged and honoured with the cash prize by R.M.P.R Singaravel Mudaliar Trust.

Veppammal Trust founded by Prof. T.Rajagopalan too offer cash prizes to meritorious students.

The able management of Thiru V.T Somasundaram B.A., visionary thoughts from the correspondent of Thiru M.Vaduganathan M.A. B.Ed., and the leadership of Head Master Thiru G. Jeevanantham M.Sc., M.Ed., M.Phil., cooperation and dedication of teaching and non-teaching staff, and the support Parents- Teachers Association had put the institution on a progressive path and it will continue to achieve new milestones in the field of education.

The school with 2500 students and 100 teachers and the administrative staff commands a good reputation in the district and the institution will continue its time tested journey with all the glory and pride for all the time to come.

There are physical training classes every day. The students are provided special training for games such as badminton, basketball, volleyball, Kho-Kho, discuss, table tennis and shuttle cock etc. The students, who are coached on these games participate in district and state level sports meets and win prizes regularly. There is a big playground to make all these possible.

There are lots of trees in the campus, and they are maintained very well.
